On the runway at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2018, the STARDUST collection by INNAI RED pays tribute to the heyday of the seventies – fun and sparkly yet with an understated elegance staying true to the brand’s aesthetics.

Creative Director Izrin Ismail delved into the wondrous archive of seventies fashion in taking inspiration for the collection. The decade that brought us flares, platforms and hippie-chic prints is the source of ideas till today reinterpreted and referenced in many ways. The time was right for INNAI RED to relook at these visionary looks with a fresh eye, presenting a collection that murmurs whimsical uniqueness.

Keeping in line with the elegant style synonymous with INNAI RED, silhouettes are kept simple with a vintage twist. Floor skimming dresses, floral prints and luxe tailoring is how the 1970s is brought to 2018, to wear the 1970s trend now. Sweeping silhouettes in pastel colours and sweet floral prints teamed up with decadent details make one want to float from party to party. Standout pieces and design details are set to be wardrobe pleasers for any type of style. Bell-bottom pants, midi-length dresses, A-line skirts, high-neck tops, slinky blouses, bishop sleeves, big utilitarian pockets and high-waisted bottoms. Not forgetting glamorous evening wear that would have easily been worn by Bianca Jagger and Jerry Hall to Studio 54.

Fun pieces require fun colors. Colours of the unicorn and iridescence are standouts in STARDUST. Pantone’s 2018 Colour of the Year: Purple, is a popular choice throughout the collection. Shades of purple such as lavender, pink lavender, violet and magenta is used in the different styles married with soft pastels like ash rose, sky blue and peppermint for that subdued elegance effect. Gold highlights with high-octane finish fabrics add instant glam and luxe to the pieces.
